Winter Car Care

Is it worth cleaning your car in the winter?

The general advice is to wash it at least every two weeks. You can be guided somewhat by the weather conditions. Freezing temperatures obviously mean more salt on the road and wet weather creates more spray. If we get a spell of this type of weather, it would be advisable to wash your car more frequently.

Exterior Detailing

Detailing the exterior of a car has many benefits. Sure it preserves the paint and improves the car's appearance, but people often forget that exterior car detailing also maintains the vehicle's resale value by removing years' worth of scratches, damage, and general wear and tear from the exterior.

Headlight Restoration

Can you fail a MOT for dirty headlights?

Yes, foggy or cloudy headlights can result in a “Major” failure on an MOT test. The rule for headlights states that every lamp unit needs to be clean, clear and should allow the light to pass through unobstructed. If your headlights are yellow, hazy or oxidised then this will affect the beam pattern / light output.
